World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate over 50 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
