Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior official stated the incident made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
