An individual who laced treats with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children both nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The man played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member contacted the law enforcement again.
She said the man then played the "candy game" in a space of five minors.
